the power of eagle
great spirit
of vision, courage, strength.
eagle quill

pure, light and gentle
full of innocent spirit
and new to life.

impressions of life - b&w

In 2007 (when I was in 3rd year) I conceptually developed the branding and design for a lifestyle concept store, Imago Space. This, though a while before the whole lomo/vintage camera hypefest, was focused around the idea that beautiful memories are precious and their authenticity should be incorporated into one's living space.
Blatantly inspired by the b&w photography Liam Lynch's Open to Misinterpretation

It was proposed that the existing space be converted into a photography/graphic illustration bookshop with organic coffee and chocolate bar; a silkscreen printing studio (custom images or found within the store's gallery printed onto sustainable natural materials - hemp, cotton, etc.); and a second-hand vintage camera shop with workshop and darkroom facilities.

Anyway, this is how it turned out. Perspective renderings are hand drawings superimposed over photos of a model I built of the design.

soft saucer created

the so called 'soft saucer' is designed to be a sound absorbing element for quiet spots. no, it's not really a light per se, rather, the lighting introduced (daisy chain leds lining the interior of the brass) is to enhance an atmosphere of intimacy and cosiness by providing a canopy of light and shadows - as though one is sitting under a tree. the fabric is all reclaimed scraps that are eco-dyed.

marabaraba table - wood, wood, wood - open/closing, social, interactive - indigenous african game fused with cape dutch inspired furniture.

dining set - a whole narrative is attached to this simple looking product.

pictures speak loudly

sometimes images explain better than what words do, which is why i put together these collage thingies to "convey the atmosphere the interior design seeks to create"...oooooooooooooooh.... i think they're lovely, though pretty simple - took ages to find just the right images...
k, back to autocad.... OH HELP ME!

biophilic design + spatial solidarity

just in case you thought that all interior designers do is choose cushions and curtains: examples of the conceptual development of the interior design for Stem Indigenous City Garden (my BTech treatise project)

by the way, i didn't just make up the annotations, they're the result of months of theoretical investigation...
